Eighteen-year-old Katelynn Dollar, a record-breaking runner from Creekview High School in Canton, Georgia, passed away on July 10, 2025, after a battle with anxiety and depression. A gifted athlete, a high achiever, and an outspoken mental health advocate on TikTok, Katelynn was the kind of teenager who seemed to have it all until she quietly couldn’t carry it anymore.
She had broken four school records in cross country and track. Her photos graced running forums, her dedication inspired teammates, and her smile, infectious and bright, lit up every room. She used her platform to share the unseen side of mental health, posting messages like, “Highlight reel isn’t real” and “You’re never alone.”
Her passing, confirmed by her family and Legacy.com, sent shockwaves through her school, her community, and a wider online audience who had followed her for her running talent and raw honesty.
In her obituary, her family said Katelynn died by suicide after battling depression and anxiety. But in the face of unimaginable loss, they chose to turn heartbreak into advocacy.
