In the latest episode of “Top Chef: Carolinas”, the Top 6 cheftestants faced their final challenges in Greenville, South Carolina. The Quickfire challenge featured Try Guys content creators Rachel Cole and Keith Habersberger as guest judges, alongside Kristen Kish. For the Elimination Challenge, Michelin-starred chef Niki Nakayama joined as a guest judge, with anonymous secret diners adding an element of mystery similar to Michelin’s dining experiences at restaurants.
Spoiler alert: The following discusses the elimination and challenges from the May 18th episode of “Top Chef” season 23. If you haven’t watched and don’t want spoilers, best to stop here.
Tonight’s eliminated contestant was Anthony Jones from Alexandria, VA. The advancing contestants from Episode 11 were Sieger Bayer from Chicago, IL, Sherry Cardoso from Brooklyn, NY, Jonathan Dearden from Alexandria, VA, Laurence Louie from Quincy, MA, and Rhoda Magbitang from Kailua-Kona, HI.
The Quickfire challenge took place at Unity Park, where the chefs had to prepare a dish while facing fan-voted curveballs throughout the cook. The winning dish went to Rhoda, who impressed with a peach & burrata tostada. Sherry also stood out with a jerk-braised rabbit dish, ultimately winning the challenge.
The bottom dishes belonged to Jonathan and Anthony, both of whom made the fatal mistake of cooking a duo. Unfortunately, Anthony was sent home for this error.
Next week, the chefs will head to Asheville for a unique dining experience in the woods. Tune in to see how they handle this challenging environment.
“Top Chef” airs on Monday nights on Bravo. Make sure to catch the next episode to see who will continue on in the competition.
