Thomas Rhett Embraces Hearing Loss & Parenthood Ahead of Fifth Child’s Arrival

Thomas Rhett recently shared a personal revelation on the podcast That Sounds Fun: the country music superstar is experiencing hearing loss in one ear. Even with this new challenge, Rhett remains focused on his music career and upcoming tour, having already found a solution to his hearing issue by getting hearing aids at the age of 35.

Adjusting to wearing hearing aids hasn’t been easy for Rhett, who initially found the amplified sound overwhelming. His wife, Lauren Akins, shared that he struggled with the new sensory input but eventually got used to it. Despite the initial discomfort, Rhett joked about wanting to return to his previous “normal” of slight hearing loss.

While better hearing may prove useful for Rhett at home, where he and Akins manage their four children without the help of a nanny or babysitter. With another baby on the way, being able to hear through the chaos of their busy household will surely come in handy for the couple.

As Rhett and Akins prepare to welcome their fifth child, they have chosen not to rely on outside help in caring for their children. The couple prefers to handle the responsibilities themselves, creating a unique dynamic within their lively household.

With the due date quickly approaching, Rhett and Akins are excited to find out the gender of their upcoming baby in March, adding another element of surprise to their growing family. The couple’s hands-on approach to parenting and Rhett’s newfound hearing aids will help them navigate the challenges and joys of expanding their family in the coming months.
