The Titanic Curse

The sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912, remains one of history’s most well-known tragedies. And on the 114th anniversary of the ship’s submergence, an eerie occurrence took place in Illinois. According to NBC News, the Volo Museum in Volo, Illinois, was flooded due to thunderstorms on the same day. Surprisingly, the only exhibit affected by the water was the Titanic exhibit in the museum.

This incident is just one of the unsettling coincidences surrounding the Titanic disaster. On June 18, 2023, OceanGate’s Titan submersible, on a trip to explore the Titanic wreckage, seemingly vanished. The tragic event resulted in the deaths of all five individuals on board, including OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, businessman and pilot Hamish Harding, businessman Shahzada Dawood, and his son, Suleman Dawood.

The public was captivated by the eerie similarity between the names “Titan” and “Titanic,” as well as the tragic fate that befell the submersible. Initial theories suggested the Titan had simply lost contact with the surface ship and was drifting with limited oxygen supply at the ocean’s floor. However, it was later revealed that the Titan suffered a catastrophic implosion, mainly due to errors in the ship’s construction that couldn’t withstand the ocean’s pressure.

Critics, including filmmaker and deep-sea explorer James Cameron, called out OceanGate for its practices that led to the submersible’s demise. The tragic event, along with the recent flooding at the Volo Museum’s Titanic exhibit, has only reinforced the public’s belief in a possible supernatural curse associated with the Titanic.

In light of these eerie occurrences, it’s hard not to ponder the mysteries and tragedies that continue to surround the Titanic disaster. The recent flooding at the museum on the anniversary of the sinking, coupled with the Titan submersible’s tragic fate, serve as grim reminders of the enduring power and intrigue of this historical tragedy.
