In a recent poll by YouGov, it was revealed that Kate Middleton, while not the most popular member of the royal family, came in second place. Surprisingly, the number one spot was claimed by her husband of 14 years, Prince William. With a positivity rate of 74 percent, Kate was just slightly behind William, who scored 77 percent to secure the top spot.
Despite not being the most popular, Kate and William still remain the royal family’s most beloved members, surpassing other senior royals in the survey. This reinforces their position as the monarchy’s most trusted figures. Following closely behind the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth’s sister, who garnered a 70 percent positivity rate in the poll.
Interestingly, Princess Anne was recently dethroned as the royal family member with the most public appearances by her brother, King Charles. He outshone her with 535 appearances in 2025 compared to her 478, as reported by The Mirror. Charles himself came in fourth in the popularity ranking at 60 percent, followed by his brother Prince Edward and sister-in-law Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
Bringing up the rear were Camilla Parker Bowles, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Prince Harry. Surprisingly, Meghan Markle was ranked the least popular royal family member in the poll, with only a 19 percent popularity rate and a negative view from 66 percent of Britons. Additionally, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s popularity fell to just 6 percent due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein, resulting in a 90 percent negative ranking.
Despite varying opinions on individual royals, the poll revealed that the majority of the British public still supports the monarchy. Sixty-four percent believe the UK should continue to have a monarchy, with 58 percent viewing the institution as beneficial for the country. This steady public support for the royal family signifies a sense of confidence in the monarchy’s future, especially with William and Kate poised to take on more prominent roles as the future king and queen.
