The Rolling Stones Cancel 2026 Stadium Tour Plans

The plans for a 2026 stadium tour of the U.K. and Europe by The Rolling Stones have been canceled, confirmed by Variety. Despite not being formally announced, expectations were high for the band to hit the road following the release of their latest album, “Hackney Diamonds.” However, internal discussions came to a standstill, leading to the scrapping of the tour plans.

Reports indicate that guitarist Keith Richards was unable to commit to the demands of a large-scale tour, ultimately leading to the decision. An unnamed American music critic shared with The Sun that Richards expressed hesitance towards a lengthy stadium tour due to his inability to commit for over four months.

Richards, who will be turning 82 on December 18, has openly discussed dealing with arthritis, which he described as benign but has necessitated adjustments to his playing style. Despite these challenges, Richards remains open to learning and evolving as a musician.

The Rolling Stones, known for their consistent touring schedule over the years, have slowly reduced their performances as the band members have aged. Their most recent tour saw them travel across North America for 20 shows spread over three months.

While the 2026 tour plans have been canceled, the band is said to be working on a new album with producer Andrew Watt. Mick Jagger expressed admiration for Watt’s enthusiasm and work ethic, highlighting their smooth collaboration. Richards also praised Watt for his infectious energy and enthusiasm, making the recording process enjoyable.

As fans eagerly await the return of The Rolling Stones to the stage, the band’s creative journey continues with the upcoming album. Despite the setback of the canceled tour, the band remains focused on their music and future projects.
