As the spotlight shines brightly on Robert Irwin on the ballroom floor of “Dancing with the Stars,” another member of his famous family might just be waiting in the wings to make her mark. The 21-year-old conservationist and his older sister Bindi Irwin have both graced the dance floor of the popular show, with Bindi even claiming victory with the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015. Now, as the current season wraps up, Robert hints that his young niece might be gearing up to follow in their footsteps.
During a post-show interview on Tuesday night, Robert shared that Bindi’s four-year-old daughter, Grace, has been showing a keen interest in dancing. “Grace is getting into this. I am serious, she’s gonna be here,” Robert told Entertainment Tonight. “I said, ‘Who do you want to be paired with?’ And she’s like, ‘Val!’ She’s gonna be in here, honestly.”
Grace’s budding enthusiasm for dance has not gone unnoticed by her family. Robert revealed that she has been picking up dance terminology and even praised him on his footwork after a Viennese Waltz routine. “Grace comes up to me — and Viennese Waltz is a hard thing to say when you’re four-years-old, right? — And she was like, ‘I loved your Viennese Waltz. Your footwork was excellent,'” Robert shared.
While Grace may be a few years away from the eligibility age for the show, fans can’t help but imagine the possibility of a future season of “Dancing with the Stars” featuring the youngest Irwin family member. And Grace isn’t the only one who might take to the dance floor someday — Robert and Bindi’s mother, Terri, has also been speculated as a potential contestant. When asked about his mom joining the show, Robert playfully admitted that she might outshine them all, jokingly saying, “If she joins me on the season, I’m getting voted out first week. She’s going to make it all the way. She’s got the groove, absolutely.”
With a new generation of Irwins potentially making their mark on the dance floor of “Dancing with the Stars,” the future looks bright for this wildlife-loving family. Stay tuned for more updates as the Irwins continue to captivate audiences with their passion for conservation and now, possibly, their dancing skills.
