After convincing Redford to take on the role of John Dutton in “Yellowstone,” Sheridan secured the green light for the show, despite HBO’s initial preference for a “Robert Redford type.”
Despite Redford’s involvement in “Yellowstone,” the role ultimately went to Kevin Costner, who played John Dutton for five seasons on Paramount Network. Redford’s influence on Sheridan’s work continues to be felt, with “The Madison” serving as a tribute to the late actor’s legacy.
