The Long-Awaited Conclusion: Red God

As the anticipation for the final installment of the Red Rising series, Red God, grows, fans are eagerly awaiting news from author Pierce Brown. Recently, Brown emerged from what he calls his “cave” to address rumors circulating about the release date of Red God.

In a candid interview with Maude Garrett, Brown addressed the speculation surrounding the completion of Red God. Contrary to rumors suggesting a summer 2026 release for Red One, Brown clarified that the novel is far from completion. With approximately 225,000 words to pen, Brown emphasized the importance of finding the soul of the story before committing to finalizing the epic conclusion.

While the pressure of wrapping up the series weighs on Brown, it’s not the ending itself that’s causing his struggle. Rather, it’s the emotional attachment to the characters, particularly protagonist Darrow. Brown shared that letting go of Darrow after seven books will mark the end of an era for him, as he has known the character longer than most of his friends.

The origins of the rumors about the release date of Red God became clearer during Brown’s interview. A previous statement Brown made about hoping the novel would be ready by summer 2026 was misinterpreted, leading to false expectations among fans. Despite concerns about the novel’s release, Brown reassured fans that he’s diligently working on the book and came out of seclusion to provide clarity rather than leaving them in suspense.

As fans eagerly await the conclusion of the Red Rising series, it’s clear that Brown is dedicated to delivering the best possible conclusion to this epic saga. While the release date remains uncertain, one thing is certain: when Red God finally arrives, it will be a momentous occasion for fans of the series.
