At Survivor 50, Rizo Velovic enters the game with a unique advantage – or perhaps a disadvantage. Velovic, alongside Survivor 49 winner Savannah Louie, had just a 10-day gap between wrapping up season 49 and beginning production for season 50. Since season 49 had not aired yet at the start of season 50, their fellow castaways had little to no knowledge of how they played the game.
Velovic’s gameplay was already highlighted in the trailer for Survivor 49, which the season 50 cast had seen before heading to Fiji. In this promo, viewers were introduced to Velovic’s self-professed moniker as “RizGod.”
In an exclusive interview with Parade, Velovic expressed his excitement that his persona as “RizGod” was showcased to the world right from the start. Embracing his role as a big superfan, Velovic plans to utilize his age difference with the other castaways to his advantage. His strategic approach includes explaining the reasoning behind his self-given title to set the stage for his gameplay in Survivor 50.
Despite the temptation to fabricate the truth about his performance in season 49 to lower his threat level, Velovic decided to be transparent with his castmates, especially with Louie by his side. The duo, who were part of the dominant “Tres Leches” alliance in season 49, chose honesty over deception as they entered Survivor 50.
Looking ahead, Velovic acknowledges that the newer era players may take interest in his past placements in the game. However, he remains hopeful that the old school players, like Colby Donaldson and Ozzy Lusth, may not see him as a significant threat due to their potentially limited knowledge of recent Survivor seasons.
Despite Velovic’s hopes, it seems that most of the Survivor 50 cast is targeting both him and Louie as soon as they set foot on the beach. As they await the premiere of Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, Velovic is prepared to face the challenges ahead with his strategic gameplay and the support of his ally.
