Get ready to bid on some of the most iconic items from The Jim Henson Company as they prepare to move locations. To commemorate their 70th anniversary, the company will be hosting their first-ever auction. Last year, the Studio Lot in Hollywood, California was sold to John Mayer and film/television producer and director McG, prompting the company to merge with their Burbank Creature Shop due to space limitations.
When relocating, it’s time to say goodbye to the old and make room for the new. For the first time in history, The Jim Henson Company will be auctioning off items such as puppets and props from beloved shows and movies.
The Jim Henson Studios, formerly known as “The Charlie Chaplin Studio,” has a rich history dating back to 1917. It was home to Hanna-Barbera Productions and later taken over by A&M Records before being acquired by The Jim Henson Studios in 2000. The decision to merge studio operations with their Creature Shop in Burbank led to the sale of the lot in 2024.
Over 400 lots will be up for auction, featuring items from classics like The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, and more. Original artwork by Carroll Spinney, known for his role as Big Bird on Sesame Street, will also be available. Items from Farscape, Labryinth, and Saturday Night Live will round out the selection.
Bidding is already underway for the auction, with items expected to fetch upwards of $50,000. The live auction will take place on November 25, 2025, with the chance for registered bidders to participate online, over the phone, or in person.
Whether you’re a fan of classic television or a collector of memorabilia, the Jim Henson Studios auction is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of entertainment history. Don’t miss your chance to bring home a piece of magic from the legendary Jim Henson Company.
