The Allure of Prime Video’s “Off Campus”

The buzz surrounding Prime Video’s latest hit TV series, “Off Campus,” has been impossible to escape. Premiering on May 13, fans are absolutely hooked on the show. The steamy plotlines and talented cast have propelled the series, based on Elle Kennedy’s book series of the same name, to the number one spot on the streaming platform.

Social media is abuzz with clips from the show’s most memorable moments, with one scene catching the attention of none other than Jennifer Lopez. At a Halloween party in the series, Allie Hayes (played by Mika Abdalla) meets hockey player Dean Di Laurentis (portrayed by Stephen Kalyn). The two share a special moment dancing to Lopez’s iconic 2011 hit, “On The Floor,” with Abdalla’s character dressed as the superstar herself – JLo.

Allie dons a stunning recreation of Lopez’s infamous green Versace dress, a look that has become legendary in fashion history. The eye-catching dress, featuring a bold jungle print and plunging neckline, is a showstopper.

“Love this shooooww,” the Billboard Icon Award winner shared in an X post on May 19, resharing the clip of Allie and Dean’s dance moment. Lopez famously wore the original dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards, and Abdalla’s reimagined version was designed by “Off Campus” costume designer Charlene Akuamoah.

Describing the process of creating the dress, Abdalla shared in a TikTok clip posted by Betches UK that it was a laborious task involving multiple fittings and intricate detailing. Despite the challenges, she expressed excitement about wearing the dress and dancing the night away.

The series has already been renewed for a second season, with filming scheduled to begin in Vancouver in early June.

The allure of “Off Campus” lies not only in its captivating storyline and talented cast but also in its attention to detail, such as the iconic fashion moments recreated on screen. Lopez’s endorsement of the series only adds to its appeal, solidifying its position as a must-watch for fans of drama and fashion alike.
