Thanksgiving 2025 Post Office Hours and Holiday Delivery Schedule

As Thanksgiving approaches, families and friends are eagerly preparing for a day filled with turkey, mashed potatoes, and pecan pie. While some will enjoy the traditional face-to-face gatherings, others eagerly await the arrival of Thanksgiving cards in their mailboxes. This raises the question: will the Post Office be open on Thanksgiving in 2025?

If you’re in need of some extra stamps for the holiday season or want to send a heartfelt note, it’s important to know the USPS holiday hours for Thursday, November 27th, 2025. Unfortunately, regular mail service will not be running on Thanksgiving Day, with the exception of Priority Mail Express.

Post Office facilities will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day, so make sure to plan ahead for any mailing needs. However, don’t fret if you need to send a package as FedEx and UPS will not be delivering on Thanksgiving Day in 2025 either.

But fear not, for normal USPS deliveries will resume on Black Friday, November 28th, 2025. Post Office facilities will be open, providing you with the opportunity to send out any belated Thanksgiving greetings or start your holiday shopping.

As we look ahead to the rest of the year, it’s important to note that USPS runs on the federal holidays’ schedule. This means that mail will not be delivered on most major holidays and three-day weekends. For the second half of 2025, mail will not be delivered on Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

So, as you plan your holiday mailings and schedule, be sure to keep these dates in mind. And remember, the beauty of Thanksgiving lies not only in the gathering of loved ones but also in the thoughtful gestures we extend to one another, whether in person or through the mail.
