A Texas mother, Jessica Quintana, was arrested after allegedly attempting to drown her three children in a nearby pond. She was charged with two counts of injury to a child and one count of aggravated assault causing bodily injury. The incident occurred on Sept. 29, and all three children, aged 6, 11, and 15, survived and are now in the custody of child protective services.
The children’s father, Domingo Quintana, called 911 to report the incident, claiming that his wife had poisoned the children with NyQuil and attempted to drown them in the pond. Despite the father’s claims of NyQuil and vodka involvement, police have not confirmed the presence of these substances. It is believed that Jessica took the children to the water with the intent of harming them fatally.
Following the incident, Jessica underwent a mental health evaluation while hospitalized. Domingo was also arrested on animal cruelty charges after authorities found a cat in poor conditions in their home.
During a child custody hearing, the children expressed reluctance to stay with their father, resulting in him being prohibited from seeing them. It is uncertain whether the father will face charges related to the incident.
Jessica is currently held without bond at the Liberty County Jail. The shocking events involving the Quintana family have left the community in disbelief and concern for the well-being of the children involved.
