Terry Glaze of Pantera Returns with New Supergroup Axe Dragger

As the year draws to a close, Terry Glaze, former member of Pantera, has surprised fans with an exciting announcement. This holiday season, the music icon has made a comeback with a new supergroup called Axe Dragger. Comprised of veteran musicians from various metal and hard rock groups, the band features Fredrik Isaksson of Dark Funeral on bass, Bob Balch of Fu Manchu on guitars, former Pentagram drummer Pete Campbell, and of course, Glaze on vocals.

Signed to the indie label Ripple Music in California, Axe Dragger not only made their debut but also released their self-titled single on Dec. 18. Fans were quick to praise the track “Axe Dragger” on social media, particularly highlighting Glaze’s impressive vocal range.

In a YouTube post by the record label, members of Axe Dragger shared that the inspiration behind their debut song came effortlessly. Bob Balch revealed that the song “Axe Dragger” was the first they wrote and it came about shortly after discussions with Pete Campbell. The guitarist also expressed excitement about Glaze’s involvement in the song, noting how his vocals and lyrics elevated the track.

Following the positive reception of their first single, Axe Dragger has set their sights on recording a full album and solidifying their lineup. The band is set to release their self-titled debut album on March 6, building on the momentum created by “Axe Dragger.”

For Glaze, this marks his first band release in 17 years, following his work with Lord Tracy in 2008. Known for his role in the ’80s heavy metal scene as a founding member of Pantera, Glaze has also pursued a solo career with releases like “Find Me a Woman” in 2017 and “Like a Snake” in 2018 prior to joining Axe Dragger.

With a resurgence in his music career and the anticipation surrounding Axe Dragger’s upcoming album, Glaze continues to cement his legacy in the rock and metal music scene. The new supergroup’s blend of seasoned talent and fresh energy promises an exciting chapter for fans of Glaze’s work.
