Teddi Mellencamp, former star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, announced her decision to divorce Edwin Arroyave, her husband of 13 years, in a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday, Nov. 2. In her message, Mellencamp, 43, emphasized that her children remain her top priority during this period of transition.
“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” she wrote. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and well-being throughout this new chapter.”
Mellencamp, who has openly shared her health journey, including a battle with melanoma, acknowledged that going public with her personal life wasn’t her first choice. “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do,” she explained, “but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumours, I have felt being open, honest, and vulnerable is the best path forward.”
The announcement came shortly after Mellencamp’s appearance at a live taping of her podcast Two Ts in a Pod, which she co-hosts with fellow RHOBH alum Tamra Judge. Held in Burbank, California, the event included fan interactions before and after the taping, during which Mellencamp kept her personal news private. Although Tamra’s husband, Eddie Judge, attended the event, Arroyave, 47, was not present.
Mellencamp, daughter of musician John Mellencamp, has previously shared insights into her and Arroyave’s relationship. She revealed in a 2019 interview with Yahoo Lifestyle that early on, Arroyave didn’t believe in marriage. Recalling a memorable moment, she said, “He came home with tears in his eyes… and placed a blank check on the bedside table, saying, ‘I love you and went to buy the ring today. I’m sorry. I just don’t believe in marriage, and I don’t want you to break up with me.’”
Mellencamp admitted that the experience was tough, describing it as if “the life had just been sucked out of me.” However, Arroyave had a change of heart and proposed the next day on Christmas Eve. Reflecting on his decision, Arroyave shared, “Your mind plays tricks on you, and at the end of the day, I knew that this was the girl that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.”
The couple married in 2011 and have three children: daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, and son Cruz, 10. Mellencamp is also the stepmother to Arroyave’s 15-year-old daughter, Isabella.
As of now, Arroyave, founder and CEO of Skyline Security, has not commented publicly on the split.
