Taylor Dearden Shares Heartwarming Tradition of Weekly Watch Parties with Mom

Taylor Dearden, star of HBO’s hit drama “The Pitt,” has a unique tradition of weekly watch parties with her mom. Dearden, known for her role as Dr. Melissa King on the medical drama, shared with People magazine that she never watches an episode alone. Instead, she sits down with her mother, Robin Dearden, by her side.

“I’m forced to watch with my mother so I can tell her when to look away,” Dearden joked. It seems like her mom relies on her daughter’s insider knowledge to navigate the intense scenes of the show.

As the daughter of acclaimed Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston, Dearden is no stranger to the entertainment industry. Despite her own involvement in the series, she admits that she wouldn’t be tuning in if it weren’t for her mother. “I watch when I have to be on my number one job of telling my mom when to look away,” she explained to People.

Dearden opened up about the surreal experience of watching herself on screen in “The Pitt.” Unlike other projects she’s been part of, where she could watch the finished product after filming wrapped up, the show’s schedule didn’t allow for that separation this time around. “Except for this show, I’ve never had anything come out while I was still shooting, and so that has been so bizarre,” Dearden reflected. “Usually, there’s a nice separation where it’s like, ‘Okay, now I can just watch it,’ but I don’t like watching myself.”

In a heartwarming interview with the Associated Press in June 2025, Bryan Cranston shared his pride in his daughter’s success on “The Pitt.” He expressed the joy of seeing her receive praise and recognition, highlighting the special bond between a parent and their talented child.

For fans of “The Pitt,” the show continues to captivate audiences every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max. Whether you’re a dedicated viewer or looking to tune in for the first time, the Dearden family’s watch parties add an extra layer of charm to the viewing experience.
