Starbucks is shaking up its rewards program in a major way, offering more exclusive benefits to those who spend more. Last summer, CEO Brian Niccol hinted at upcoming changes after receiving feedback that customers wanted more recognition for their loyalty. And now, Starbucks is delivering on that promise with its revamped rewards program.
“We’re redefining the industry with customer-focused benefits that set a new standard and ignite fandom,” shared Tressie Lieberman, Starbucks global chief brand officer. “This evolution is a key milestone in our Back to Starbucks strategy and will reinvigorate what it means to be a Starbucks Rewards member.”
The new tiered rewards program, set to launch this spring, will introduce three status levels: Green, Gold, and Reserve. Each tier will offer exclusive benefits based on the number of stars earned within a year.
Green tier members, for example, will enjoy perks like Free Mod Mondays, bonus stars with qualifying card reloads, and a 1:1 ratio of stars earned to dollars spent. Gold tier members will have extended benefits, including extra double star days and a higher exchange rate for stars.
At the top of the rewards pyramid, Reserve tier members who earn 2,500+ stars in a year will receive even more exclusive benefits. From a free personalized Reserve card to access to global merchandise and experiences like all-expenses-paid trips to exciting destinations, these top-tier members will truly feel appreciated for their loyalty.
In addition to the tiered rewards system, Starbucks is also changing how stars can be redeemed. Green tier members, who used to risk losing stars if they didn’t use them before they expired, can now redeem stars for discounts on their purchases. This new feature, along with other benefits, will enhance the overall rewards experience for Starbucks members.
Overall, Starbucks’ new rewards program is set to make a big impact on loyal customers, offering more personalized benefits and exclusive perks for those who spend more. Get ready to elevate your Starbucks experience with this exciting new program.
