Professor Peju Layiwola is organising a solo exhibition entitled, “Indigo Reimagined”, between Thursday, June 13 and Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the J. F. Ade. Ajayi Auditorium, University Of Lagos.

Professor Peju Layiwola Indigo Reimagined

The Exhibition, which will bring together Prof. Layiwola’s overall experience and engagement with cloth in both research and studio experience working with youth in her Centre for arts and crafts, will officially open on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Auditorium.

The Exhibitor, Professor Adepeju Layiwola, is a renowned artist with several feathers to her hat:

  • She is the first female President-elect and Vice President of African ancestry, of the Arts Council of the African Studies Association (ACASA), USA;
  • She initiated the making of the iconic wall mural on the façade of the Creative Arts building at the Department of Creative Arts, University of Lagos (UNILAG) Members of the University;
  • She initiated the Annual Omooba Yemisi Shylon sponsored UNILAG/OYASAF Art Entrepreneurship Workshop (2011 – 2014) at the Creative Arts Department, UNILAG;
  • She has served, in 2016 and 2018, as a guest speaker at Art X, West Africa’s premier international art fair, designed to showcase the best and most innovative contemporary art from the African continent and its Diaspora.

The general public are cordially invited to visit the exhibition from Friday, June 14 to Tuesday, July 30, 2019, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.
