Entering my 40s has shifted my focus from party-filled vacations to establishing habits that promote long-term health. So when I received an invite to The Proper Hotel’s first-ever wellness retreat, I was intrigued. The retreat, in partnership with Hundred Health, aimed to help attendees jumpstart healthy habits and learn more about their personal health.
Longevity vacations, a growing trend, offer a range of experiences, from spa-focused relaxation to clinical treatments involving bloodwork and dietary protocols. The key is to bring home new habits for daily life. My experience at The Proper’s retreat in Santa Monica involved blood tests, consultations with doctors, and treatments like a red light therapy bed and an Niagen NR IV drip. The mix of Eastern and Western medicine, along with more traditional activities like outdoor workouts and spa treatments, created a well-rounded experience.
As these vacations become more popular, it’s important to choose a destination and experience that align with your goals. Whether it’s a spa-focused retreat, a prescriptive program, or a combination of activities, consider how you can incorporate the habits learned into your daily routine. Longevity vacations should offer more than a temporary escape; they should provide tools and insights for long-lasting health improvements.
Overall, my three-day retreat at The Proper provided me with valuable knowledge about supporting my health and a 100-day protocol to continue healthy habits. No longer interested in draining vacations, I left feeling refreshed and armed with tools to support my well-being for years to come.
