The bill suggests a 5-year jail term for lecturers found guilty of sexually harassing students and was introduced following the investigation done by BBC Africa Eye which exposed sexual misconduct by lecturers at top universities in West Africa.

The lecturers exposed in the investigation from the University of Ghana and the University of Lagos have since been suspended.
