Selena Gomez, 32, shared advice for young girls entering the entertainment industry during the release of her new film, Emilia Pérez.
Speaking exclusively to E! News at the New York Film Festival on 30 September, Gomez encouraged them to stay calm and reassured them that “everything will be fine.”
Reflecting on her career, which began at the age of 10 on Barney & Friends and later saw her rise to stardom through the Disney Channel and pop hits like “Can’t Keep My Hands to Myself” and “The Heart Wants What It Wants,” she acknowledged the industry’s pressures.
Gomez, who has been candid about her mental health struggles, expressed gratitude for her current stability, stating: “I’m very grateful that I’m in a much more stable place.”
She celebrated her role in Emilia Pérez, a musical crime comedy co-starring Zoe Saldana and Karla Sofía Gascón, which has already generated significant awards buzz. The film earned the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Gomez remarked on the Oscar chatter surrounding the film, admitting: “I just don’t know if it’s real. I’m even shaking in my voice. I’m grateful. I think this movie hits all different cylinders. It’s very fun. It’s very passionate, and it’s about four women, really, and their journey. And it’s been a blessing, so to just be in that category, it’s an honour.”
Although the project has inspired her musically, Gomez revealed she’s uncertain when she will return to the studio, as she is currently enjoying her acting career.
