Samuel Adams Winter Beer Innovations: Cold Brew Coffee Stout and Winter White Ale

Bold and robust, Samuel Adams is stepping into the winter season with a new brew that caters to those who enjoy darker beers without the typical holiday spices. The Winter White Ale is the first new holiday beer from Samuel Adams in 30 years, following the 1995 release of Old Fezziwig. However, the brand is introducing another addition to its lineup that may catch the attention of beer lovers looking for something different this winter.

Inspired by the resurgence of the espresso martini cocktail, Samuel Adams’ Cold Brew Coffee Stout brings together the flavors of coffee and beer in a unique way. Craft brewers have long embraced this combination, but this stout openly draws inspiration from the popular ’80s cocktail made with vodka, coffee liqueur, simple syrup, and espresso.

Described as a “buzzworthy” beverage, the Cold Brew Coffee Stout promises a rich, roasted flavor and a warming finish. This stout is brewed with a blend of pale, roasted barley, and chocolate malt, along with Samuel Adams’ ale yeast. It boasts 6 percent alcohol by volume and falls on the lower end of the bitterness scale with 20 IBUs.

While other seasonal offerings from Samuel Adams are widely available, the Cold Brew Coffee Stout can only be found in the limited-edition Winter Break Variety Pack. This pack also includes Winter Lager, Old Fezziwig, and Winter White Ale. Fans will have to act fast, as this stout is only available for the 2025-2026 winter season.

If the Cold Brew Coffee Stout receives positive feedback during its limited run, there is a possibility that it might return in the future as a standalone six-pack or as part of another special-edition variety pack. A company spokesperson hinted at the potential for a comeback, stating, “We never say never!”

As beer enthusiasts prepare to explore new flavors this winter, Samuel Adams’ Cold Brew Coffee Stout offers a unique and innovative option for those looking to stray from traditional holiday brews. With its blend of coffee and beer, this stout is sure to bring a distinctive taste experience to beer lovers this season.
