Ryan Seacrest Reveals Surprising Cheat Sheet Method on Wheel of Fortune

In a recent Q+A with the Wheel of Fortune studio audience, host Ryan Seacrest shared a surprising revelation that many fans have been dying to know.

During the exchange, Seacrest was asked how he knows the number of each letter in the puzzle and how quickly he can figure it out. The seasoned host confessed that although he does his homework before the show, he does have a little trick up his sleeve—a cheat sheet of sorts to assist him.

“Last night I memorized all of the puzzles, and I do my exercises in the morning to remind me,” Seacrest explained. “It’s funny, that’s all I wanted to know when Pat [Sajak] hosted this show, I’m like, ‘How does he know?’ Growing up I wondered that, and then I got to find out. The secret is there’s a little monitor down there and it flashes quickly, the number, if I miss it, then I don’t say it. If I see it, I say it.”

The revelation, which Seacrest shared in an Instagram post, sparked a flurry of comments from viewers, including a former contestant who had been pondering the same question for years.

While some were intrigued by the behind-the-scenes revelation, others took the opportunity to express their admiration for Seacrest, who not only hosts Wheel of Fortune but also American Idol and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

Seacrest stepped into the hosting role in September 2024, taking over from the longtime host Pat Sajak. With Sajak’s retirement, Vanna White has remained on the show as Seacrest’s counterpart, while Sajak’s daughter serves as the show’s social media correspondent.

Wheel of Fortune continues to air Monday-Friday at 7 p.m. on ABC and is available for streaming on Hulu.

The whirlwind of excitement and curiosity surrounding Seacrest’s unique hosting method showcases not only the intrigue of the television industry but also the enduring popularity and cleverness of one of America’s favorite game shows.
