The Hunting Wives crew is back as filming for Season 2 is underway, Malin Åkerman announced this week on social media. With a photo alongside co-stars Brittany Snow and Jaime Ray Newman, Åkerman shared the exciting news of the start of production. “Hold on to your wigs…we have officially started shooting season 2!!!” she wrote, promising fans that they will not be disappointed. Their commitment to the new season was highlighted with a photo of their on-set chairs, with one chair specifically reserved for a wig.
As fans flooded the comments section with excitement, some celebrities also joined in. Meghan Fahy from White Lotus expressed her joy with a simple “Yaaaay!!” while Kerry Washington chimed in with a resounding “YAAAAAAS.”
The first season of the Netflix show, which premiered in July, follows Snow’s character Sophia O’Neil, a newcomer to a conservative Texas town who becomes entangled in its scandalous social scene, including a secret relationship with Åkerman’s character, Margot Banks.
The show’s same-sex love scenes, particularly those involving Åkerman and Newman’s characters, have been handled with care and sensitivity on set. Åkerman previously discussed how these intimate moments were directed by women, including Melanie Mayron, who ensured the scenes were both beautiful and respectful of the characters’ emotions.
Åkerman’s portrayal in the show has earned her the title of “Lesbian Icon,” a role she embraces with gratitude. She shared, “I love it. [And] I’ve gotten a nickname. ‘Mother,’ she said. ‘The highest respect. I’m like, ‘Thank you. Thank you very much.'”
Hunting Wives also features Chrissy Metz and Dylan McDermott in the cast, adding to the star-studded ensemble. The anticipation for Season 2 continues to build as the cast and crew dive back into the world of The Hunting Wives.
