Tommy DeCarlo, the lead singer of Boston, recently passed away at the age of 60. He underwent emergency surgery in September for a brain bleed and was on the road to recovery. However, his children had set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of his treatment. Despite their efforts, DeCarlo sadly did not pull through.
The GoFundMe initially aimed to raise $50k but, thanks to the support of fans, they managed to surpass that goal and raised $56,818. This financial aid was crucial as doctors had discovered two melanoma masses in DeCarlo’s brain during the surgery, as well as a spot on his lungs. The fundraiser was organized by his son, Tommy DeCarlo Jr., and the funds raised would go towards his sister, Annie.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, DeCarlo’s family announced his passing, stating that he had fought bravely against brain cancer until the very end. They asked for privacy during this difficult time as they mourned the loss of their father. DeCarlo leaves behind his children Annie, Talia, and Tommy Jr.
DeCarlo took over as the lead vocalist of Boston in 2007 after Brad Delp’s passing. He later went on to form the band DECARLO with his son. The music industry has lost a talented individual, and his legacy will undoubtedly live on through his music.
As fans and the music community mourn the loss of DeCarlo, his impact on the industry and the hearts of those who knew him will always be remembered. Rest in peace, Tommy DeCarlo.
