In 2025, the 1990s powerhouse band Radiohead is experiencing a resurgence with a new generation of listeners, particularly through their timeless anthem for the misunderstood.
Radiohead’s inaugural studio album, “Pablo Honey,” marked a significant moment in the alt-rock genre. The lead single, “Creep,” quickly became an anthem for outsiders, solidifying the band’s position in music history.
Fast forward 33 years later, “Creep” has found new life on the Billboard Global 200 chart, securing a spot at No. 43 on the year-end ranking. Additionally, the song holds a position at No. 55 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, reflecting its global impact.
Initially considered a commercial failure with only 6,000 copies sold upon its release in the UK, “Creep” gained momentum thanks to Israeli DJ Yoav Kutner and found success in countries like Australia, New Zealand, and Spain. Eventually, the song broke into the U.S. market, climbing to No. 34 on the Billboard charts in 1992.
Despite its lasting appeal and popularity among listeners, even Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke expressed ambivalence towards the band’s hit single. In a 1993 interview with Rolling Stone, Yorke admitted to displeasure with the song’s lyrics, likening it to a cover when performed live.
Following the success of “Creep,” Radiohead had only two other songs enter the Billboard charts – “High and Dry” from the album “The Bends” in 1995, and “Nude” from “In Rainbows” in 2008.
In an unexpected turn of events, Radiohead rekindled their presence on the Billboard charts in 2025 with “Let Down” from their 1997 album, “OK Computer.” This revival was fueled by the song’s appearance in the season one finale of Hulu’s “The Bear” and its viral success on TikTok.
After an eight-year hiatus, Radiohead graced London’s O2 Arena with a series of concerts in November 2025, marking their return to the stage. While fans eagerly anticipate new music from the band, Radiohead remains an enduring presence in the music industry.
