Mother’s Day in the U.S. may be in May, but across the pond, it falls in March. This year, Prince William honored the occasion by sharing a never-before-seen photo of Princess Diana. The heartwarming image captures a young William sitting beside his mother in a field of colorful wildflowers, showcasing a tender moment from his toddler days.
“Remembering my mother, today and every day,” wrote the 43-year-old Prince of Wales on Instagram on Sunday, March 15. “Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day.”
The touching post quickly drew reactions from fans, with one person commenting, “She was a wonderful woman 💖💖.” Another added, “This is such a beautiful photograph.” A third chimed in, “Diana must be very proud of the man you became, she takes care of her Wombat from above 🤍.”
While Prince William has occasionally shared personal memories of his mother over the years, moments like this one remain relatively rare. In 2017, he and Prince Harry unveiled several unseen family photos from Diana’s personal album in promotion of the ITV documentary “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.” The images offered a glimpse into their childhood, including a snapshot of Diana holding William while pregnant with Harry and another of the brothers dressed as policemen.
More recently, in 2024, new photos of Princess Diana visiting a London charity with her young sons resurfaced during the promotion of William’s documentary “Prince William: We Can End Homelessness.” In the film, the future monarch recalled how his mother took him and Harry to The Passage, an experience he had never had before.
Diana’s life was tragically cut short in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997. At the time, William was 15, and Harry was 12. The legacy of the beloved Princess of Wales continues to live on through her sons and the memories they share.
