Prince Andrew Celebrates 66th Birthday with First Public Appearance Since Arrest

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, made his first public appearance since his February arrest, celebrating his 66th birthday. The ex-prince was taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office but was released the same day. Over a month later, he was spotted walking his dogs with a bodyguard on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on a Saturday in March.

Mountbatten-Windsor and his family have been under public scrutiny due to his connections with the late convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, resulting in legal and personal troubles for Queen Elizabeth II’s third-born child. Despite a lawsuit by Virginia Giuffre accusing him of sexual abuse, resulting in him being stripped of his royal titles and duties over the years, the case concluded with an out-of-court settlement in 2022.

In 2025, King Charles III formally removed Mountbatten-Windsor from his royal titles and duties, including that of prince, and announced he would no longer use the “HRH” title or partake in royal duties. Mountbatten-Windsor’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, also faced allegations of sharing her goddaughter’s information with Epstein in 2010.

Their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have largely stayed clear of the scandals surrounding their parents, although recent reports indicated they were banned from the Royal Ascot amidst the allegations. The family’s connections have continued to draw attention, with ongoing controversies surrounding their past associations.

For anyone who has been affected by human trafficking or sexual assault, help is available through resources like the National Human Trafficking Hotline or RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline. The Mountbatten-Windsor family’s tumultuous journey remains under the spotlight as they navigate the consequences of their connections and actions.
