In 2026, Philadelphia is gearing up for its biggest Fourth of July celebration yet as the city prepares to mark America’s 250th birthday. The annual Wawa Welcome America festival is set to expand with more days, more events, and the largest fireworks lineup in its history.
The upcoming festival, produced by Welcome America, will span 16 days from late June to early July, turning the city into a hub of celebration. The highlight of the festivities will be six nights of fireworks, a record number for the festival and a fitting tribute to America250.
This year, the fireworks won’t be restricted to just July 4. Instead, they will be spread across multiple nights tied to various major events, including celebrations of Black Music Month, Kidchella, waterfront concerts, and the grand finale on Independence Day along the iconic Benjamin Franklin Parkway. This extended schedule offers both locals and visitors more opportunities to enjoy the colorful displays.
A significant addition to the 2026 festival is the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade, scheduled for July 3. Featuring representation from all 50 states and U.S. territories, the parade will follow an expanded route through historic streets, showcasing marching bands, floats, cultural groups, military units, and Miss America titleholders from each state and territory.
Returning fan-favorite events include Wawa Hoagie Day, Gospel on Independence, Free Museum Days, Pops on Independence, and the traditional July 4 concert and fireworks display. Additionally, cultural celebrations like the Juneteenth Block Party and Concilio’s Annual Hispanic Fiesta will spotlight Philadelphia’s diverse communities.
The festivities on July 4 will kick off with the time-honored Celebration of Freedom ceremony outside Independence Hall, leading into a day full of events culminating in the evening concert and fireworks on the Parkway. With six nights of fireworks, a multi-state parade, and over two weeks of programming, Philadelphia is set to host one of the most monumental America250 Fourth of July celebrations in the country.
