Pearl Jam: The Next Chapter

In the world of rock music, change is a constant, especially for the legendary band Pearl Jam. Since their formation in 1990, the Seattle musicians have seen a revolving door of drummers, with Matt Cameron eventually becoming a permanent member in 1998. After 27 years of incredible performances, Cameron shocked fans last year with his exit from the group in July 2025.

With fans eagerly anticipating who will fill Cameron’s shoes, the band confirmed that they are still on the search for a new drummer. However, recent developments suggest that a decision may have been made. Guitarist Stone Gossard expressed his excitement for the band’s next chapter in an interview on Pearl Jam Radio. The mystery surrounding their new drummer adds an extra layer of anticipation for their upcoming live shows.

Speaking of live shows, Pearl Jam hasn’t performed since Cameron’s departure, making their upcoming headlining slot at the Ohana Festival even more special. Set to take place in Dana Point, California from September 25-27, the festival was founded by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder in 2016. This year marks the festival’s 10th anniversary, with Vedder performing a solo set on the opening night, followed by Tyler Childs headlining the second night.

The band’s performance at the Ohana Festival is shrouded in mystery, with no official announcement yet on who will be joining them on drums. Gossard described the excitement of the unknown, adding to the anticipation for their upcoming shows.

Known for their influential impact on the grunge genre, Pearl Jam made waves with their debut single “Alive” in 1991, setting the stage for their groundbreaking career. As fans eagerly await the band’s next chapter, the anticipation continues to build for what Pearl Jam will bring to the stage next.
