Oreo Unveils Updated Recipe for Popular Cakesters Varieties

Oreo has expanded far beyond its classic cookie status, with one of its popular offshoots receiving an exciting recipe update.

Originally introduced in 2007, Oreo’s Cakesters reimagine the traditional sandwich cookie as a whoopie pie-style snack cake. The company announced on Thursday that these Cakesters are making a comeback with a brand-new recipe.

The updated recipe will apply to all Cakester flavors, now available in three convenient sizes. Oreo shared in an email with Parade that the refreshed recipes have been changed to make them moister than the original version, promising the softest Cakesters yet.

The new Cakester recipe has been implemented across all flavors, including Original Oreo Cakesters, Golden Oreo Cakesters, and Double Chocolate Oreo Cakesters. However, there was no mention of the Confetti Cake flavor launched in December 2025, but if included, Parade will provide an update.

Original Oreo Cakesters are a soft-baked twist on the classic Oreo cookie, with velvety snack cakes sandwiching creme filling between two chocolate cakes. Golden Oreo Cakesters feature the same concept but with golden-yellow cakes, while Double Chocolate Oreo Cakesters include chocolate-flavored creme between two chocolate cakes.

Oreo’s new Cakesters are now available nationwide in multipacks or single-serve sizes with two or three snack cakes in each pack, at various retailers in the cookie or snack cake aisle.

The revamped Oreo Cakesters represent a modern twist on the classic Oreo cookie, providing a softer and moister snack cake experience across various flavors. Enjoy the classic Oreo taste in a new and convenient format perfect for snacking on the go.
