In an interview with ABC’s Nightline, he shared his decision, stating, “I felt like as these shows got announced, I started thinking, ‘I think I just need to let people know about it.’ I think it just makes it easier on me actually if people know, it’s something I don’t have to hold inside or keep a secret.” Dumont, 58, revealed his health update in April and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from family, friends, fans, and his bandmates.
In the month of his announcement, the renowned guitarist disclosed that after experiencing several symptoms, he sought medical advice and was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease. Despite the challenges he faces daily, Dumont remains positive and emphasized that he can still play music and guitar, adding, “I’ve been doing really well.”
No Doubt, consisting of lead singer Gwen Stefani, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young, embarked on their residency at The Sphere on May 6. Kanal shared in an ABC interview that they started jamming in Young’s basement months ago to prepare for the residency. Young humorously remarked, “We’re almost playing as good as we used to.” The band, commemorating 30 years since their ‘Tragic Kingdom’ album, has extended their set of shows to include 18 dates through June.
