New Era at Oga’s Cantina: A Star Wars Experience

Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland recently reopened its doors after nearly eight weeks of closure. Upon entering, guests immediately noticed a significant change—the absence of the First Order. References to Kylo Ren’s regime, the Resistance, and the now-closed Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel have all been removed from the signage and dialogue within the cantina. Even job postings have been updated to fit the era of the Galactic Civil War, creating a more immersive experience for visitors.

These changes are just a glimpse of the larger transformation coming to Galaxy’s Edge on April 29. Darth Vader will soon patrol Batuu alongside Stormtroopers, while beloved characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo will make appearances throughout the outpost. Additionally, the original Star Wars scores by John Williams will now play across the land, creating an even more authentic Star Wars experience. Oga’s Cantina has even received a new backstory, setting it earlier in Oga Garra’s career before she became the well-known crime boss guests once knew.

While the changes have been made to Oga’s Cantina, the section of Galaxy’s Edge anchored by Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will remain in the sequel era. This division allows Disney to cater to fans of different eras without erasing any part of the Star Wars universe completely. The removal of references to the Galactic Starcruiser, a resort that closed in 2023, signifies a fresh start for the cantina and the entire land.

Visitors no longer need reservations to enter Oga’s Cantina, which is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. This new era in Galaxy’s Edge promises an immersive experience for fans of all ages, with a nostalgic nod to the earlier cinematic era of the beloved franchise. As the galaxy continues to evolve, Disneyland remains a destination for fans to step into the Star Wars universe and make memories that will last a lifetime.
