The Amity Affliction’s latest single “House of Cards” marks a new chapter for the Australian metalcore band, as they gear up for the release of their upcoming album – the first to feature bassist and vocalist Jonathan Reeves since joining the band in May 2025.
Scheduled for release on April 24, “House of Cards” has already made waves following the band’s Instagram announcement. Fans have eagerly shared their thoughts on the new era that The Amity Affliction is stepping into.

Founded in a small town in Queensland, Australia, The Amity Affliction’s journey began with high school friends Ahren Stringer, Joseph Lilwall, and Troy Brady. Although Lilwall parted ways with the band early on, the name “Amity Affliction” was chosen as a tribute to a friend who passed away tragically at a young age.
The band’s debut EP in 2005 marked the beginning of a musical evolution that saw several lineup changes over the years. Their debut album “Severed Ties” in 2008 introduced audiences to their heavy sound before albums like “Youngbloods” and “Chasing Ghosts” elevated them to the top of the Australian music charts.
However, it was their album “Let the Ocean Take Me” in 2014 that truly solidified their mainstream success, garnering international attention for their unique blend of melodic hooks and raw lyrical themes.
In 2025, The Amity Affliction welcomed Reeves from Kingdom of Giants to their lineup, following the departure of frontman Stringer. Now composed of Reeves, Birch, Brown, and Longobardi, the band is gearing up for the release of their ninth studio album.
