Naomi Campbell has reacted to Liam Payne’s tragic death five years after they were rumored to have had a brief romance.
The supermodel shared her thoughts on Instagram Friday, commenting on her friend Nicole Scherzinger’s post that paid tribute to the former One Direction member.
She wrote, “🕊️💔🕊️🙏🏾,” beneath the photos of Payne, the Pussycat Dolls frontwoman, and their fellow “Building the Band” judge Kelly Rowland.
The fashion icon and the “Strip That Down” singer, who had a 23-year age difference, reportedly dated for four months in 2019.
Romance rumors first began in January when they left flirty comments on each other’s Instagram posts.
At the time, the British supermodel was 48, while the English singer was 25, and they were spotted together later that month at Nigerian artist Davido’s concert in London.
They were seen hanging out again at a restaurant in Ghana in February 2019 and later at the private London club Annabel’s.
However, their whirlwind romance came to an end that April, with a source telling the Sun that Campbell chose to “let things fizzle out.”
Both stars were asked about their rumored relationship multiple times, but they remained silent on the subject.
During a December 2019 episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” Andy Cohen prompted Payne to “confirm or deny” the romance, but the “Teardrops” singer chose to “plead the fifth.”
It’s unclear whether Campbell and Payne kept in touch after their brief relationship, but he stayed close with their mutual friend Scherzinger.
Payne passed away on October 16 after falling three stories from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31 years old.
