Modest Mouse may have been around since the ’90s, but it was their 2004 platinum album, Good News for People Who Love Bad News, that truly propelled them to rock stardom. The band’s Grammy Award nomination for Best Alternative Music Album in 2005 and another nomination in the Best Rock Song category for their hit single “Float On” solidified their place in the music industry.
Fast forward over two decades later, and Modest Mouse is still going strong. The band recently announced a series of 2026 tour dates on Instagram, much to the excitement of their dedicated fan base. The tour will kick off in Spokane, Washington on May 12 and make its way through the west before heading east, with notable stops at the Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City in May and the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee on June 14.
Fans in the Washington, D.C. area will also have the chance to catch Modest Mouse opening for My Chemical Romance on August 18 at Nationals Park. An artist presale is currently underway for Ice Cream Party members, with general public tickets going on sale on Friday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. local time.
In a 2024 interview with Spin, frontman Isaac Brock reflected on Modest Mouse’s Grammy nominations, jokingly referring to himself as a “three-time-Grammy nominee loser.” Despite the losses, Brock acknowledged the bittersweet feeling of being recognized in a competition he didn’t even know he was a part of. With a hint of sarcasm, he pondered the idea of winning that elusive award one day.
As Modest Mouse continues to make their mark on the music scene, there’s always the possibility that they’ll come out on top in the end. Their enduring success and ability to connect with fans through their music prove that accolades are just the icing on the cake for this beloved alternative rock band.
