Michelle Stafford Dives Into Soap Opera Traditions on SOAPY Podcast

Michelle Stafford, Daytime Emmy winner, steps into the world of podcasts in a much-anticipated appearance on SOAPY in Season 2, episode 9. Known for her role in “The Young and the Restless,” Stafford opens up about her career, the Daytime Emmys, and the longstanding traditions of soap operas. Parade offers an exclusive sneak peek of her upcoming episode on the popular podcast.

In the preview shared with Parade, Stafford reminisces about a tradition initiated by former “The Bold and the Beautiful” star Susan Flannery. This tradition involves hosting a pre-Daytime Emmy Awards meal for the nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

During her conversation with SOAPY host Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart, Stafford reveals that these gatherings delve into more than just award discussions. “We talk about real stuff,” she shares. Stafford mentions that at a recent gathering she hosted before the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards, only nominees from “The Young and the Restless” were able to attend due to conflicting schedules, creating an intimate and special atmosphere.

Despite extending invitations to all eligible nominees, busy schedules prevented everyone from attending the event. Stafford expresses her disappointment that supporting actress nominees were unable to join in the festivities due to prior commitments.

Adding a touch of lightheartedness to the gathering, Stafford recalls a charming tradition that unfolded during the meal. “We got out the pinky swear,” she chuckles. “That’s when girls don’t talk, when you know you’re not going to say anything. If you’re a girl who pinky swears and talks, you’re not a good girl.”

Taking to Instagram to share a glimpse of the event, Stafford captures the camaraderie and connection shared among the attendees. The post celebrates the tradition started by Susan Flannery and highlights the bond among Lead and Supporting Actresses.
