Merv: A Holiday Tale with Furry Twist

It’s been over two decades since Zooey Deschanel last graced our screens in the holiday classic, Elf. Despite the passing of 20 years, Elf continues to be a festive favorite, with unforgettable moments like her duet with Will Ferrell on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. Now, Deschanel is making a comeback in the holiday genre with Merv, alongside Charlie Cox, known for his role as Daredevil. But this time, the film features a different kind of star – the four-legged kind.

Merv tells the story of Anna (played by Deschanel) and Russ (played by Cox) as they navigate an awkward co-parenting situation revolving around their beloved dog, Merv. When Merv loses his spark after their split, Russ takes him on a getaway to Florida in hopes of lifting his spirits. However, things take an unexpected turn when Anna shows up, and as Merv starts to find himself again, sparks between Anna and Russ begin to fly.

While the dog resort in the movie is fictional, it was inspired by the real-life Dog Beach in San Diego, California. This heartwarming tale of broken hearts and new beginnings is set to premiere on Prime Video on December 10th.

Aside from Deschanel and Cox, the cast includes Gus, making his movie debut as Merv. Gus may be new to the big screen, but his previous work in commercials and promotional videos has prepared him for this starring role.

Merv promises to be a feel-good holiday film with a furry twist, perfect for viewers looking for a heartwarming story this season. So mark your calendars for December 10th and get ready to cuddle up with Merv on Prime Video.
