Man Sentenced to Jail After Living with Ex-Partner’s Dead Body for Years

In a shocking and tragic case, a man has been sentenced to jail after authorities discovered that he had been living with his ex-partner’s dead body for years. The man, Jamie Stevens, covered the body of Anouska Sites with a blanket in his apartment in Torquay, England, after she passed away in 2022. Despite the passage of time, he continued to reside in the same space as her body decomposed.

Authorities became aware of the situation when Ms. Sites was reported missing in 2025, with the last sighting of her dating back to 2022. Following an investigation, police visited Stevens’ residence multiple times before finally gaining access on May 27, 2025. Inside, they made the gruesome discovery of Ms. Sites’ remains.

Stevens admitted to police that he had found Ms. Sites dead in his home in 2023 and chose to cover her body with a blanket instead of seeking help. His actions led to him being sentenced to 14 months in prison for unlawfully preventing Ms. Sites’ burial and an additional eight months for attempting to pervert the course of justice. Despite his claims, Ms. Sites’ death was not treated as suspicious.

Senior investigating officer Jeanne Hellyer expressed relief at the court’s decision, noting that Anouska was denied a proper burial by Stevens. She extended her sympathies to Ms. Sites’ loved ones, who can now find closure and lay her to rest.

The case serves as a reminder of the importance of honoring the dignity of the deceased and seeking help in times of crisis. It sheds light on the complexities of relationships and the consequences of one’s actions in the face of tragedy.
