Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair – Cast Reunites for Revival

Nearly two decades after the beloved show Malcolm in the Middle ended, the cast has reunited for a revival. Like the original series, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair follows Malcolm, portrayed by Frankie Muniz, as his chaotic family continues to disrupt his life.

The limited four-part series, set to premiere on Hulu and Disney+ on April 10, 2026, features most of the main cast, including Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as his bumbling dad, and Jane Kaczmarek as his domineering mom.

Before the highly anticipated premiere, let’s take a look at what the stars have been up to since the show concluded on May 14, 2006.

Frankie Muniz, who led the show as the child prodigy Malcolm, continued acting after the series wrapped. Now 40, Muniz has also pursued a career as a race-car driver, competing on the NASCAR circuit. The Malcolm in the Middle reboot brought Muniz back to the screen, and he expressed his happiness about returning to acting.

Bryan Cranston, who portrayed the lovable goofball dad Hal on the show, went on to achieve success with his role as Walter White on Breaking Bad, earning four Emmys. Cranston’s return to his character of Hal for the revival was rewarding, as he expressed his appreciation for slipping back into the role and reuniting with his on-screen family.

Jane Kaczmarek, who played the no-nonsense matriarch Lois, earned multiple Emmy nominations for her role on the show. Since then, she has appeared in various television series and is set to reprise her role as Lois in the revival. Off-screen, Kaczmarek recently married her high-school sweetheart after a previous marriage to actor Bradley Whitford.

Christopher Masterson, known for his role as the rebellious older brother Francis, has found a second career as a DJ while occasionally appearing on screen. He welcomed a daughter with his wife in recent years, and his brother Danny Masterson was convicted of criminal charges in 2023.

Justin Berfield, who portrayed Malcolm’s immature older brother Reese, transitioned to producing after the show ended. After filming the Malcolm in the Middle revival, Berfield reflected on the experience with fondness, highlighting the joy of revisiting his former acting life.

Erik Per Sullivan, who played the quirky Dewey on the show, chose not to reprise his role in the revival. Instead, another actor, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, will take on the character of Dewey.

As the cast of Malcolm in the Middle reunites for the revival, fans are eager to see these familiar faces back together on screen after so many years.
