Major Stars Added to American Music Awards Lineup

The American Music Awards just got a major boost in star power! Keith Urban and Hootie & The Blowfish are the latest additions to the musical lineup for this year’s ceremony. Hootie & The Blowfish’s appearance is particularly noteworthy as they return to the AMA stage nearly three decades after winning the award for Pop/Rock New Artist in 1996. The band will be performing hits from their debut album, “Cracked Rear View”, which not only earned them their first AMA trophy but also propelled them to pop culture fame and success in the music industry. Reflecting on the album’s 30th anniversary in 2024, Hootie & The Blowfish members shared their thoughts on its enduring impact with Billboard.

Guitarist Mark Bryan expressed, “It seems to resonate in people’s lives in a very big way. Those stories like [‘it’s] their wedding song or they say, ‘It got me through my father’s death,’ always keep coming back to us, and it never gets old. What a great full-circle way as a songwriter to know that you’ve connected with people. As a songwriter and musician, you can’t ask for more. It’s such a dream come true to have made an album that has connected on such a level with people like that.”

Urban is gearing up to perform a song from his upcoming 13th studio album, “Flow State”, set for release on June 12. Alongside fellow musicians such as Dolly Parton and Michael McDonald, he was recently inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame. Amidst his career successes, Urban has also made headlines for his divorce from Nicole Kidman and rumored tension with his daughters, Faith Margaret and Sunday Rose.

Keith Urban and Hootie & the Blowfish join a star-studded lineup of performers including KATSEYE, Teddy Swims, Riley Green, Maluma, Twenty One Pilots, and sombr, with more acts yet to be announced. The event will be hosted by actress/rapper Queen Latifah.

The 52nd American Music Awards will be broadcast live on CBS and available for streaming on Paramount Plus on May 25.
