Biography of Lulu Hassan

Lulu Khadija Hassan is a news presenter on Citizen TV’s Nipashe Wikendi evening news bulletin, alongside Rashid Abdalla.

She is also the CEO of Jiffy Pictures, a filmmaking firm that produces Kenyan drama series. The mission of the company is to tell interesting African stories, mainly in the Swahili language.

The popular and most-watched Maria Drama Series, which airs on Citizen TV, is one of the series produced by the company. Other series produced by the company include Moyo Series, Huba Series and Maza Series.

Lulu Hassan Family

Lulu Hassan was born in Mombasa and raised there. Lulu was born in a household of three sisters in Mombasa, grew up there. She is descended from Kikuyu and Seychellois people on both her mother’s and father’s sides.

Lulu’s mother died in 2007, leaving her with a real estate firm to manage as the firstborn in the family. She also Rashid, her current spouse, that same year.

Education and Career

For her high school education, Lulu was a student at Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa, Kenya. She also went to Salrene Travel Operations College to study as a cabin crew, hostess, human resources manager, and ticketing officer.

Lulu was later hired in 2008 as a radio presenter at Radio Salaam in Mombasa. She returned to college to pursue a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism, which has helped her discover her calling.

Lulu then decided to apply for a job at Royal Media and she has been working here ever since.

The Swahili news anchor is married to Rashid Abdalla. The two were blessed with three beautiful children. Rashid Abdalla broadcasts at Citizen Tv alongside Lulu Hassan.

In 2020, she was nominated for the Couture Africa Styles Awards 2020 under the category of Most Stylish TV and Radio Personality.
