Loudness, the iconic heavy metal band from Japan, founded by guitarist Akira Takasaki and drummer Munetaka Higuchi in Osaka in 1981, is marking an extraordinary milestone this year – 45 years in the music industry. To celebrate, the band has embarked on a world tour, fittingly named the “45th Anniversary Tour.”
The tour kicked off in December 2025 in Japan, with each leg of the tour named as a “chapter.” The first chapter, titled “The Birthday Eve,” paid homage to their debut album and ran from Dec 23 to 29. Moving forward, Chapter 2 will take place in the United States, commencing at [explicit]’s Heroes 2026 in Houston, Texas, from March 19 to 21. The band will also be performing in San Antonio, Los Angeles, and San Juan Capistrano in March before setting sail on the Monsters of Rock Cruise in mid-April.
In May, Chapter 3 titled “Loud Crazy Loud” will see the band return to Japan, with shows starting at Zepp Fukuoka on May 6 and concluding at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo on May 29. Additional performances are scheduled in cities such as Ishikawa, Aichi, Hokkaido, and Miyagi. The final chapter will take place in Europe, with appearances at prestigious events like the Barcelona Rock Fest and Time to Rock Festival in July.
Over their illustrious 45-year career, Loudness has released an impressive collection of music, including 29 studio albums, eight live albums, 15 singles, and 16 compilation albums. Their latest project, “Sunburst,” released in 2021, reached No. 5 in Japan. The current lineup consists of Takasaki, Masayoshi Yamashita, Minori Niihara, and Masayki Suzuki, with the band having undergone several lineup changes over the years. Notably, Loudness was the first Japanese metal act to sign with a major record label in the United States.
Fans have the opportunity to watch the band’s live stream performance in Tokyo and secure tickets for the “45th Anniversary Tour” by visiting Loudness’ official website.
