Lizzo Reveals How She Lost Weight and Why She Quit Starbucks.

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, recently spoke about her weight loss journey.

Earlier this year, the 36-year-old singer shared that she had lost 16% of her body fat. After showing off her slimmer figure, some people accused her of using weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro — but Lizzo has denied those claims.

On Instagram Live, she talked about some of the changes she’s made to her diet. She said she avoids sugary foods in the morning and now prefers savory meals. But if she does eat something sweet, it has to include a carb, like almond butter on toast.

Lizzo reminded her fans that every body is different, and it’s important to figure out what works best for you. She said the only thing that applies to everyone is the basic science of weight loss: eating fewer calories than you burn.

She also mentioned cutting back on her usual two or three large Starbucks drinks, which were adding up to 1,200 calories. Although she doesn’t think constantly counting calories is healthy, she said going into a calorie deficit helped her because she used to binge eat.

Lizzo called calorie deficit a “tool” to help fight the unhealthy food culture in America. Besides changing how she eats, she also focused on managing her stress and anxiety.

She said she’s been working on her mental health for years and finally feels ready to be herself and be happy. She now takes time to calm down through meditation and chooses to spend time alone in a healthy, mindful way — not out of sadness like before
