Kelsey Grammer: A Hollywood Love-Hate Relationship

Kelsey Grammer may not be head over heels for Los Angeles, but after 40 years in the city, it’s still what he calls home. The 70-year-old actor soared to fame with his iconic portrayal of Dr. Frasier Crane in the beloved NBC sitcom Cheers from 1984 to 1993. Building on that success, Grammer starred in the spinoff series Frasier from 1993 to 2004, and then had a revival from 2023 to 2024. Alongside his television work, Grammer has an extensive background in theater and successful film projects. While deeply rooted in Hollywood, he doesn’t necessarily embrace the Los Angeles lifestyle.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Grammer shared his conflicting feelings about the city, saying, “Like it’s an unlikely sort of love affair I have with this town. I’m not crazy about it. But I also love it. So I’m doing my best to kind of lift my heart to take each day as the gift it is. So what, LA’s a little challenging.” Despite the political climate in Los Angeles, which tends to lean liberal, Grammer has long identified as a conservative, aligning with the Republican party.

Grammer, along with his wife Kayte Walsh, recently welcomed their fourth child just two months ago, bringing their total number of children to eight. Despite the challenges of living in Los Angeles, the couple are focused on creating their haven within the bustling city. Grammer expressed his desire to find their little corner in Los Angeles where they can nurture their family and maintain their peace.

In his latest venture, Grammer stars in the survival thriller film Turbulence, directed by Claudio Fäh. The movie follows the story of a hot-air balloon operator named Harry, who finds himself in a dangerous situation when his passengers are hijacked by a mysterious third party. As the secrets unravel, the characters engage in a high-stakes battle in the sky.

Even though he may not always see eye-to-eye with the popular sentiments in Los Angeles, Grammer remains committed to his career and family. As he navigates his way through the Hollywood landscape, he continues to uphold his conservative values and prioritize the well-being of his loved ones, carving out his own path in the city he both loves and struggles with.
