Karen Grassle, known for her role as Caroline “Ma” Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie, is embarking on a new chapter following her heart’s desires.
Last summer, the 83-year-old actress attended the Monte Carlo Television Festival to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the beloved show alongside her former co-stars. While in Monaco, Grassle’s thoughts turned to a past love and she decided to take a chance.
Her journey led her to Carrara, Italy, where she reconnected with sculptor Robert Gove, a man she had been in love with in her youth. Despite losing touch over the years due to individual pursuits, Grassle found that their connection remained strong when they reunited.
Gove, described on his website as a devoted practitioner of Zen Buddhism, has been sculpting in Carrara for over 40 years. Grassle expressed admiration for his work and the sense of closeness they felt upon meeting again.
After a whirlwind romance reignited, Grassle recently finalized the paperwork for a new apartment in Carrara, where she plans to split her time between Italy and the United States. This new chapter in her life marks a significant shift for Grassle, who was previously married and divorced three times, with one son named Zach.
In addition to her personal pursuits, Grassle is looking forward to reuniting with her Little House on the Prairie co-stars at a cast reunion event in Simi Valley, California. The gathering promises to be a nostalgic moment for fans of the show, offering an opportunity for questions and memories to be shared.
As Grassle embraces this new phase in her life, she serves as a reminder that love and connection can endure across time and distance.
