Joely Richardson Honors Late Sister Natasha on 63rd Birthday

Natasha Richardson’s sister commemorated the late actress’ 63rd birthday with a heartfelt social media post this week. Joely Richardson took to Instagram with a carousel of nostalgic photos of Natasha and her husband, Liam Neeson, whom she married in 1994.

“11th of May is forever my sister’s birthday, even though she left this earthly plane 17 yrs ago,” Joely wrote. “She and I loved how rousing this piece of music is- it would make her smile that I’ve picked it.”

“All these pictures are in the public domain (screen shot), and with the recent 90s revival they kept popping up on my phone,” she explained. “The day Tasha married Liam Neeson was one of the happiest of her life (the tenderness of her upward gaze)- she couldn’t believe it, and we danced til’ dawn. Oh the glamour of this couple, their warmth and humor. I love the last photo as it’s full of mischief, and utterly her. Seize the day, she did.”

The post received a multitude of comments, including from longtime friend and Bravo exec, Andy Cohen, who wrote, “Happy Birthday Tash.” Journalist Katie Couric also commented, saying, “Beautiful Joely. they were such an incredible couple and your sister was the loveliest human being.”

Natasha, known for her role in 1998’s ‘The Parent Trap,’ tragically passed away in 2009 after a ski accident during a family trip in Quebec. She did not initially seek medical attention and died two days later of an epidural hematoma. Natasha was 45 and a mother of two to Micheál, now 30, and Daniel, now 29.

Joely, an actress in her own right, starred in TV shows and films such as ‘Nip/Tuck,’ ‘101 Dalmatians,’ and ‘The Patriot.’

In the world of Hollywood and beyond, Natasha Richardson’s legacy continues to live on, leaving an indelible mark that will never be forgotten.
