The sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on the hardwood floors of Jennifer Lawrence’s elegant New York City apartment. But despite the serene scene, Lawrence’s words painted a different picture as she shared a heartbreaking story during a recent Q&A session after a screening of her upcoming film, Die My Love.
The acclaimed actress revealed that she had to bid farewell to her beloved dog, Princess Pippi Longstocking, whom she had adopted in 2017. While Pippi now resides happily with Lawrence’s parents, the decision to let her go was not an easy one. Lawrence explained that after welcoming her first child, dogs had become “scary” to her, citing an incident where her son was bitten by a dog.
“I’m gonna take out you and your f–king family. You and your friends. I’m gonna go to China and take care of your friends over there. Anyone who looks like you is dead,” Lawrence expressed, her words filled with pain and anger towards the canine species.
However, while Lawrence may have developed a fear of dogs after becoming a mother, she still harbors a soft spot for animals. She shared that she does allow some creatures in her home, most notably her pet cat, Fred. Lawrence fondly described Fred’s sassy behavior, appreciating how he nonchalantly enters a room as if it were mere coincidence.
“I love cats’ sassy behavior. They are a–holes, and people who don’t like that about cats are missing out on what makes them so amusing,” Lawrence remarked with a hint of fondness in her voice.
Despite the emotional weight of Lawrence’s story, her resilience shines through as she navigates the trials of motherhood and pet companionship. As she continues to balance her career with the demands of family life, Lawrence’s candid revelations offer a glimpse into the complex world of celebrity motherhood. And while Princess Pippi Longstocking may no longer roam the halls of Lawrence’s New York City abode, her memory lives on in the hearts of all who hold dear the bond between pets and their owners.
