There’s a common belief that Carrie Underwood is suing The View over remarks made by host Joy Behar.
However, that’s not true. Carrie is not suing The View regarding the controversial comments Joy made during a mid-January 2025 segment, where she questioned Carrie’s dedication to the United States after the singer agreed to perform “America the Beautiful” at Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025.
If that were the case, major media outlets would have reported it, especially since Carrie is a top musician with 13 million Instagram followers.
If there was a lawsuit, it would definitely be making headlines.
So, how did this rumor about Carrie and The View start? It appears to have originated from a video titled “Carrie Underwood SUES The View Host Joy Behar After She Said This On Set About Her Supporting Trump,” which was shared on the YouTube channel OkayRickk.
The video has received over 384,000 views, and given that the channel has 452,000 subscribers, it likely contributed to the misconception that Carrie is actually suing.
Following Joy’s comments (which we’ll discuss further), various sources began reporting that Carrie was being “canceled,” which may have led some to think she might consider legal action.
While some people have voiced their displeasure over Carrie performing at Trump’s inauguration in the comments on her posts, she still boasts over 13 million followers on Instagram, indicating that she hasn’t been canceled.
Once OkayRickk’s video started to gain traction, other unreliable sources jumped on the bandwagon.
Since none of these outlets have provided any actual evidence of a lawsuit, it’s largely seen as a rumor.
What did Joy Behar say about Carrie Underwood?
During a mid-January 2025 segment of The View, Joy stirred things up by criticizing Carrie for professing her love for the country while agreeing to perform at Trump’s inauguration.
Joy remarked, “How do you love your country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon who really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion? I don’t understand how you say you love your country at the same time as you normalize this convicted felon.”
Although Joy made it clear she wouldn’t stop anyone from performing, she personally wouldn’t have taken that route.
Whoopi Goldberg, despite not being a fan of Trump, didn’t have an issue with Carrie’s decision to perform.
This comment naturally sparked controversy, with opinions flying in from both sides, but there’s still no lawsuit in sight.
